Harborside shopping mall was built in 1989. Its first shop was opened in 1990. One of the special qualities is the covered open passageway that joins the Oceanside with the Kaya Grandi with stores on both sides. Many people use the passageway like a street. This ensures a lot of walking traffic, which is very good for all of our stores.

Another interesting aspect is the architecture of the building. Great care was taken with the design to bring a true feeling of the old architecture of the Antilles. By both outsides of the shopping mall on the Kaya Grandi side and on the Oceanside, this is quite evident by the different facades inspired by existing buildings on the island of Curacao which dates back to the 18th century. This was also carried through to the facades on top of the stores each one being unique. You get the feeling of being in a small, cool (due to the covered roof), Village Street. It doesn’t matter what weather it is, rain or strong summer sun outside, it is always mild and calm with a nice breeze in Harborside.

Our goal is to offer shoppers an extensive list of quality merchandise at various prices, to be able to offer something for everyone, no matter the pocketbook. Buy art, jewelry, perfume, lipstick, sunglasses, reading glasses, have a haircut, browse the internet, buy a t-shirt, a Cuban cigar, eat an ice-cream, buy a quick lunch, or have some great barbeque, use the ATM, you will find this and much more in our great shopping mall.

Oh by the way, Harborside got its name from being so close to the main harbor of Kralendijk. The Oceanside entrance of Harborside shopping mall is just 2 minutes walking distance from the Harbor, which makes it very convenient for our cruise ship visitors. Speaking of which, we pay special attention to handicapped travelers, so they have easy access to the mall and all of their stores.

We are now in the process of redesigning our patio area facing the ocean with a cooling waterfall and relaxing pergola. In the very near future, construction will be starting on phase 2, enlarging our existing retail space, so we can offer even more shopping excitement.
